Job Description: Database Administrator (CDBA — Oracle/Java) — DISA OSS Legacy Systems Sustainment This position supports the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)
Transport Services Directorate (IE) and its
Cyber NetOps Tools Division (IEA) on the
Operational Support System (OSS) Legacy Systems Sustainment effort. OSS comprises tools and enclaves used by DISA Tier II/III to monitor, control, analyze, and manage DoDIN/DISN equipment; while OSS is a legacy environment being replaced by the cloud‑based
Global Management System (GMS) , it must be sustained to ensure continuity of operations during transition. Primary work is performed at
Ft. Meade .
Mission of the role. Your charge is to keep OSS
reliable, secure, and accredited across
lab and production by sustaining: (1) the
OSS Lab Network , (2)
Network Services (AAA, DNS, NTP, Syslog, SAN/NAS/Brocade, RDP), (3)
CDBA , (4)
JSME , and (5)
OSS Firewalls/technical refresh —using a
lab‑first pipeline, disciplined change control (IP/DP with reversion), STIG/IAVA patching, and clear documentation.
Overview: As DBA sustaining
CDBA (SNAP, SGS, PPSM‑U, PPSM‑C) as an end‑of‑life program—
no enhancements , with preventive maintenance, patching where feasible, and accreditation support.
Support Scope: Break‑fix restoration; recurring maintenance (cert renewals, log purges, DB health); OS/COTS patching; STIG/IAVA posture; lab‑first testing; IP/DP/test reports; RFCs; monthly activity reporting;
CDBA Maintenance Plan. Key Responsibilities: Operations - Maintain Oracle DBs and Java stack; troubleshoot production outages; coordinate high‑risk actions/expenses with Government.
Security Compliance - Provide STIG/scan artifacts; document exceptions when patches would break function for Gov’t risk decision.
Documentation & Deliverables - Produce maintenance plan, IP/DPs, test reports, RFCs, tickets/status updates per PWS tables.
Minimum Qualifications: - 6+ years Oracle DBA (RDBMS, RMAN, performance, HA/backup); Java app runtime familiarity.
- DoD 8140IAT‑II; strong RMF/STIG/POA&M documentation.
Preferred Certifications: - Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional; Security+/CISSP.
Work Environment: - On‑site for classified tasks ; lab evidence used for accreditation; monthly/quarterly deliverables cadence. Clearance: Top Secret/Secret; NIPR/SIPR; OSS enclaves.
