Job Description

The City of Murphysboro, Illinois is accepting applications for Firefighters, for the purpose of establishing an eligibility list for hiring. Starting Pay for a Firefighter is $44,953 annually plus a comprehensive benefit package.

• The primary duties of a Firefighter is to respond to structural fires, provide fire education, arson investigation, vehicle extrication as well as provide emergency medical assistance.
• Firefighters will report to and complete all tasks assigned by their Shift Supervisor.
• They will participate in fire suppression, preparing equipment for a state of readiness, assist in record keeping and adhere to all departmental policies and procedures.
